Dear Everyone that is interested in classic dragons

FAFNER WINNER OF THE ORIGINAL GOLD CUP IN 1937 IS FOR SALE.

REASON owner got married february 08, december 09 wife gave him a christmas present of a wonderful baby boy and since the Street family owns two wooden dragons he feels it is the time to sell Fafner.

My son and namesake Donald M. Street 111 better known as D111 owner of the classic dragon Fafner, built Johanssen 1936, winner of the first Gold cup 1937, bought and restored just in time to race in the 60th anniversary of the first gold cup 1997 and also sailed in the St Tropez 75th anniversary regatta.

Sailors that were at the regatta will remember her dark blue red boot top white bottom and a distinctive sail number TRI 1.

D 111 trained at the international school of boatbuilding, has worked as a shipwright on both east and west coasts of the states plus here in ireland and ran his own small repair shop, repairing and restoring dragons till he ran out of dragons to restore.

Fafner is in perfect shape.Everything from the shearstrake down is original, but she has the modern rig with all the latest go fasts.

In light and moderate conditions she has proved herself as fast as the modern dragons. When it blows she has been hampered by the fact that the street family are all ligtweights, three streets weight about the same as two big irishman.

With the change in rule, the ability to sail four up if the weight limit can be made, her heavy weather performance will inprove.

She did well in St Tropez dispite the fact that in the first race a minute after the start she broke her port runner, and in the last race blowing like mad we still did well dispite being very under weight.

Excellent photographs and description of the boat can be found in my webb site www.street-iolaire at hotmail.com

Here is a chance to buy a fast historic dragon for racing in the classic dragon circuit.

please pass the word to everyone that might be interested in classic dragons DM street jr

We have received the following notification:

TIM WILKES
Honorary Secretary
The British Dragon Association

“On the occasion of the 75th anniversary in St. Tropez 2004, more than 40 classic dragons took part. For all participants it was an unforgettable event. Richard Green, who sadly died, was very much looking forward to the next jubilee event. That inspired some classic dragon friends, to organize the 80th anniversary in Ascona 2009 specially for classics. The intention is to have a really international festival celebrating the beautiful old boats.
Because I have no connections to British classic dragon owners, I kindly ask you to give the information and the notice of race (attached) of the “First international Dragon Classics Ascona 2009” to interested dragon sailors in your Association. Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any question or if you are interested in the paper version, please contact me and I will send you a printed version of the notice of race.
Kind regards
Michael Reinert
